Baby naming ceremonies are a time to welcome a new child into the family and are a great alternative to a traditional religious ceremony.
Naming ceremonies are a meaningful and joyous way of gathering the people that are important to you to celebrate the arrival of your child. The ceremony can involve you making lifelong commitments or promises to the child and to each other, and share the love, hope and dreams you have for your child.
You can introduce supporting adults in the ceremony who will take a special interest and play a significant role in the child’s upbringing. They can be referred to as sponsors, mentors, supporters or whatever you wish to call them. You may also wish to include other children in the ceremony.
The ceremony can include the significance of the child’s name, include readings and music and be as formal or informal as you wish to make it.
Naming ceremonies can be held within one of our Council Ceremony Rooms, at an Approved Venue or at a venue of your choice with prior agreement.
